The Wildcat

Wildcat Menu (a bit pricey but in Yellowknife you just have to stop looking at the prices. And besides, where else can you get arctic char, white fish, caribou and buffalo?)
I went to this bar called the wildcat last Friday. They have a jam session (which you would really like meg) every Friday night at 9:00. We went early so we could sit on the patio and eat some dinner. I had buffalo stroganoff which was delicious (yes it really was buffalo). They aren’t licensed for the patio so they serve beer and wine in coffee mugs- pretty sneaky! The bar itself is really small (about 2/3 the size of my living room/ dining room in TO) and its not open in the winter because they can’t get running water and it isn’t heated. Its really not much more than a shack. When the fire marshall is coming they ask all the ‘smokers’ to go out for a smoke (also very inconspicuous because I’m sure that the fire marshall has no idea why 30 people just happen to be standing outside on the street). They have tables with benches to sit at and its so crowded that people all squish in together. Its a great way of meeting new people!
