Shine On- Summer Solstice Festival

June 20- 24 2005

Shine on. The Summer Solstice Festival is a multicultural celebration of the sights, sounds and experiences that make life in Canada s North incredible. Our organization is commited to bringing together old and new events in a celebratation of music, culture and community spirit. This year we welcome the Festival of the Midnight Sun to our lineup, joining 6 other incredible Canadian and northern events to deliver a full week of entertainment and excitement. Just so you know JUNE 21 is summer solstice... the longest day of the year!
Artists and Performers
Aboriginal Day
June 21 is Aboriginal Day which is a holiday for government employees, which means that I get the day off to eat bannock and salted meat (or have a bbq and work on my tan). Actually I have my kayak lesson at night and will hopefully be able to catch some of the performers and there is apparently a fish fry that's worth going to. I have also found out where to go to get the locally caught white fish... YUM YUM.
National Aboriginal Day
Ravan Mad Days
Raven Mad Days gives a whole new meaning to the concept of shop until midnight... the streets are apparently full of deals and since it stays light until well past midnight you can street shop the night away.
Raven Mad Days
I will get some pictures as the events progress next week and keep everyone posted as I experience more Northern Traditions.
