Sarah's Yellowknife Adventures

This is the story of my adventures in Yellowknife, NWT. I'll try to present an unbiased tale of the exciting events that happen as I experience life in the Great Canadian North.

DeBeer’s Triathlon, Long Lake Yellowknife, NT.

On Sunday, I volunteered for another MultiSports Club Triathlon. This one was sponsored by DeBeer’s (so I was hoping that I would win a nice right hand ring for a door prize- unfortunately I didn’t win and there weren’t any diamond prizes anyway). I was a marshal and had to direct competitors as they left and returned to the transition zone (the transition zone is where they switch from swimming to biking and biking to running). The triathlon was Olympic Distance so there was a 1.5 km swim in long lake, a 40 km bike and a 10 km run. There was also a sprint distance, which had a 20 km bike and 5 km run. All in all it was fun to cheer on the competitors and enjoy a beautiful summer day at the beach. With the long days North of 60, it felt like noon when I got there even though it was only 7:15am.
