Sarah's Yellowknife Adventures

This is the story of my adventures in Yellowknife, NWT. I'll try to present an unbiased tale of the exciting events that happen as I experience life in the Great Canadian North.

Aboriginal Day

National Aboriginal Day is supposed to be recognized across Canada but I had never heard of it until coming to YK. The NWT is the only province or territory to declare it a stat holiday, which meant that I got the day off (being a government worker and all). The federal employees had to work, but are given the choice of taking aboriginal day off in replace of another stat holiday.
There were all kinds of festivities going on- including a free fish fry in Somba K'e park.
For more information see my previous post on the summer solstice.
