A smokie is a smokie

On Sunday Kali’s dad Ben took Kali, Meghan, Jan, Brenna and myself out to Long Lake for a picnic and tubing. There is a campground and day use area at long lake which is pretty much 2 minutes from downtown. It would not be my first choice for camping (sort of more urban than the Pinery) but for day use its great. Reminds me a bit of Port Franks. Anyway, we picked a spot on top of a hill where there was lots of breeze and no bugs. Ben had an amazing spread of snacks, burgers, all the fixings and potato salad. The best part was that I got to have my first smokie. I get made fun of because I didn’t know what a smokie is. The description Jan provided was that a “smokie is a smokie”. Its basically a hybrid of a hot dog and a sausage and is infused with cheeses. When they’re hot enough (you just have to reheat them because they’re smoked) they pop open and ooze their grease everywhere- SMOKIES ARE DELICIOUS.
After our picnic we went on the lake for some tubing. I was suited up in my wetsuit but the water was very warm and everyone else went in their swimsuits (I think warm might be a relative thing because I was certainly happy to have my suit). I told Kali as we were leaving I felt like it was summer in Ontario (ok, so it was a good 10 degrees cooler than Ontario today but it was still fun).
