Paddle and a Picnic

Jennifer and I rented a canoe from Narwal on Saturday and went for a paddle an a picnic. We headed out from Narwal, which is located in BackBay and then cut across under the bridge that joins Old Town and N’Dilo. We paddled along the Eastern Short of Yellowknife and managed to avoid getting hit by any float planes landing or taking off (lucky for us, Kaylee and the Narwal gang taught my kayak class where to avoid paddling). We didn’t go that far but we found a nice spot on an island to have a picnic and sit with our backs against a warm rock. There was a bit of a wind and our canoe was dislodged from where we pulled it up but no harm was caused. The paddle back was thankfully with the wind- the swells were prob 2 feet or so. We paddled through the house boats and up around N’dilo. As we were coming around the tip of N’dilo Yellowknife came back in sight and we could start to here the sounds of the city. We commented that it was a shame to have such sounds ruining the lovely evening with the sun glistening off the water when Jennifer’s cell phone rang.
