Yellowknife Transit
Megan and I find the YK bus system amazing and have started a small study to determine the average number of riders on a bus (it is a very unscientific design but keeps us entertained).
Earlier in the week it was not looking like it was economically a wise decision to have bus system since the average number of riders on a bus was hovering between .25 or .33 (yes that is 1/4 of a person and 1/3 of a person) BUT as of yesterday we hit an average of 1 person per bus.
The following is information about the Yellowknife Knife Transit System...
1) There are no subways or street cars only buses.
2) The buses are white with blue around the bottom and a yellow strip. On the blue part are sled dogs... so its like your on a dog sled but you are actually on a bus. I wish TTC had something cool like that.
3) There are 3 bus routes. (Not very many but YK isn't really that big, and the average number of riders is 1 per bus sooo I guess they don't exactly need many more routes than that).
a) Bus Route 1- Airport/Downtown/Range Lake (this is the route that goes by my house)

b) Bus Route 2- N'Dilo/Downtown/ Forrest Drive

c) Bus Route 3- Saturday/ Summer

4)The adult fare is $2.50, which is the same as the TTC BUT you can by an adult monthly pass (which gives unlimited rides) for the bargain price of $62.00. And you should also bear in mind that you will probably be the only rider, so taking the bus is actually more like taking a really big taxi.
5)Buses run from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
6)The Saturday Schedule operates from 8:15 p.m. to 11:15 and 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m
